Facilities & Practical Information

Villa Monferrato is a historic holiday home with atmosphere, views and space. To help you decide whether the house is right for you, we have put together the most important practical information.

How many guests can stay at the villa?

The villa is suitable for up to six guests. There are three bedrooms: Olivio, Cielo and Principessa. The bedrooms are on the first floor and each has a small balcony.

Bathroom and guest WCs

The house has one bathroom and two small guest WCs. This layout reflects the character of a historic home. If you expect several modern bathrooms, the villa may not be the right choice. If you are looking for a spacious house with history, a terrace, a tower and a special atmosphere, it is very well suited.

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen is equipped for self-catering. It includes a gas hob, electric oven, pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, glasses, a capsule coffee machine and a cafetière.

Many guests like to shop in Castelnuovo Don Bosco or at markets in the surrounding area and then have dinner on the terrace. Restaurants, pizzerias and wineries can be found nearby. Booking in advance is often advisable.

Summer, heat and cooling

There is no air conditioning in the villa. However, the house has thick walls, shutters and fans. In summer, we recommend keeping the shutters and windows on the sunny side closed during the day and airing the house well in the evening or at night.

The house is set high on the hill. The terrace, balconies and tower are particularly pleasant places in the morning and evening. During the hottest hours of the day, a slower rhythm is recommended – just as it is customary in Piedmont in summer.

Winter and cooler seasons

The villa has central heating. The living room and the bedroom Olivio have fireplaces. Please use fireplaces only by prior agreement and in accordance with the instructions in the house.

Terrace, balconies and tower

The large terrace is one of the most beautiful places in the house. It is perfect for breakfast, dinner, reading and long evenings with views over Monferrato.

The villa also has balconies and a viewing platform on the tower. Access to the tower is via stairs and a narrow outdoor staircase. Please use the tower carefully; children should be supervised there.

Stairs and accessibility

Villa Monferrato is a historic house with several levels, stairs and outdoor areas. It is therefore not barrier-free. For guests with limited mobility, the house is only suitable to a limited extent.

Shopping

The nearest practical shopping facilities are mainly in Castelnuovo Don Bosco. There you will find supermarkets, smaller shops, bakeries, butchers, a market, petrol stations and other useful services.

Restaurants and wine

There are several restaurants and pizzerias as well as wineries in the area. Le Rondini in Primeglio is particularly close. In Castelnuovo Don Bosco there are further simple options for food, including pizzerias and regional cuisine. Cocconato and Albugnano also offer attractive options for food, wine and excursions.

Please always check opening hours and book in advance where possible.

Swimming

For swimming, Lago di Codana and Lago di Candia are possible options. Please check current opening hours, seasonal dates and local conditions in advance.

Excursions

For short trips, Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Albugnano, the Abbey of Vezzolano and Cocconato are good options. Asti is ideal for a half-day or full-day visit. Turin is a highly worthwhile day trip for architecture, museums, cafés, markets, palaces and urban life.

Internet and working

Wi-Fi is available in the villa. The connection is via a wireless network rather than fibre optic. It is generally sufficient for everyday use, such as email, web browsing and video calls; however, as is often the case in hilly areas, the quality of the connection may vary.

There is also a workspace suitable for working or studying.

Parking and arrival

Parking is free and located next to the house, on the church square.
The access roads are typical of this hilly area: narrow, winding, with steep inclines, and some sections are particularly narrow. We recommend, if possible, that you arrive during daylight hours on your first visit. Arriving after dark is also possible, but requires extra caution.

Pets

We’re sorry, but pets are not allowed in the villa.

Children

Children are welcome. Due to stairs, balconies, the terrace and the tower, smaller children should be supervised in the house and outdoor areas.
